Human Resources Circulo Solidario
Blanca works for a local non-profit called Circulo Solidario (Solidarity Circle) helping to strengthen poor Salvadoran communities’ health services, infrastructure, and access to education. Recently we got a chance to sit down and talk to Blanca about the new Computod@s computer and an Internet connection that changed her life (at least at work!). Until recently, Blanca was accustomed to spending her days on a bus, riding around San Salvador to collect documents and then painstakingly filing them in the office. Finding the documents in the filing cabinets was a challenge and, she admits, often seemed to take forever. Now Blanca is all smiles as she shows us how a simple desktop search pulls up anything she needs in seconds right from the comfort of the central office. Circulo Solidario employees who work in remote communities now just scan a document in a cyber cafe and email it to Blanca. René, Circulo Solidario’s IT technician, is happy about the new Computod@s computers for another reason: with the same budget they used to spend to buy one or two PCs, now they can buy five Computod@s PCs, plus they come with pre-installed software. When the tech guy is happy, Computod@s is happy!
